Who can apply

The programme focuses on developing:

• Current leaders within Member Organizations who want to contribute to their Association’s growth and development through application of core leadership skills and knowledge and motivate girls and young women by sharing their Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting experiences

• Potential leaders, particularly young women in the Movement who want to learn about leadership in a WAGGGS setting and about how to apply international leadership skills to make a difference to the worldParticipants attending the seminar should have:

- A leading position in her Girl Guide or Girl Scout Association
- Been attending national leader training activities
- Knowledge about the leadership and organization structure in her own association

- Interest in personal development and leadership skills

The seminar will be conducted in English.

A limited number of scholarships are available to underrepresented regions of WAGGGS.

European International Commissioners Forum in Malta, 2009

The Scout and Guide Associations in Malta recently hosted the European International Commissioners Forum at the Radisson Bay Point hotel, St Julian's. Over 100 delegates from around Europe (including Armenia - NUGGGS "Astghik") participated in the three-day meeting, which included workshops on the theme of 'Go beyond'. The meeting was opened by Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli while Girl Guide chief commissioner Lara Tonna and chief scout Kenneth De Martino addressed the participants.

Young women's world forum 2010

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts will celebrate 100 years of changing lives with a series of unique events taking place each year between 2010 and 2012. For the first time ever Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world will participate in a world forum.

The first Young Women’s World Forum takes place in the United Kingdom in October 2010, and is open to two young women aged 18 to 25 from each Member Organization.

Who is invited to the 2010 Young Women’s World Forum?

All WAGGGS Member Organizations are being invited to send two delegates to the Young Women’s World Forum, who are:

• Young women aged 18 to 25 (at least 18 by 1 October 2010 and still under 26 years old on 31 October 2010)
• Active members of their organization, but do not need to have attended any previous WAGGGS events
• Very good French, English or Spanish speakers to be able to contribute and benefit fully from the Forum
• Committed to running projects or programmes as a follow-up to the Forum
  

Registration is now open and will take place through a Member Organization’s International Commissioner. If you are a young woman aged between 18 and 25 and a member of WAGGGS and would like to attend the event, please contact your International Commissioner (Aya - Astghik Zakaryan - aya@astgik.org ).

Opportunities at Pax Lodge

Currently there are some exciting opportunities to go and work at Pax Lodge. They are:

Guest Services Coordinator:

Pax Lodge is currently looking for someone to join their Guest Services team to manage the Pax Lodge Reception office in order to establish and maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all guests and visitors and to ensure the smooth running of Pax Lodge. They will also be responsible for the administration of international events at Pax Lodge.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy working in an international team and have first class customer service skills. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Experience in events management is desirable.

This is a fixed term contract position for six months, with the possibility of renewal. Free board and lodging is provided, this is a residential post, plus a salary from £9,500 per annum (pro rata).

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Volunteer Event Assistant:

Pax Lodge run several WAGGGS International Events throughout spring and summer months. To ensure they run as smoothly as possible, Pax Lodge recruits two Event Assistants over these months to assist the Programme Team in planning, facilitating and evaluating these Events.

Dates:
February 2010 – August 2010 or
May 2010 – September/October 2010
(5 - 7 months)
